Submitted on 2008-03-30 by Mike Topor
Location (approximate): Arkona, Lambton, ON
Strat unit: Arkona formation
Submitter notes: These cone-shaped (always flattened in the Arkona formation) fossils had a very thin phosphatic shell. Difficult to collect in one piece and very rare in the formation, their exact placement is still being debated but placement seems to favor their own phylum. It is believed they were able to attach themselves to shells or other material on the sea floor and cluster in a group. This partial specimen is 125mm tall x 120mm at greatest width.
