Billingsites longitudinal cross-section of ascocerid with juvenile cyrtoconic phragmocone attached

Submitted by: William Stoddard
Taxon: Billingsites noquettensis
Submit date: 2008-07-22
Location (approximate): , Delta, MI
Stratigraphy: Ogontz Formation
Age: Cincinnatian (Late Ordovician)
Submitter notes: Here's a specimen of Billingsites with the cyrtoconic phragmocone still attached, which was deciduous and would break off later in life. To the best of my knowledge and from what I can find in the literature, I don't know of any other ascocerids still in matrix, other than this and the others I found. From the Stonington peninsula. Block is about 5 inches wide.
