Submitted on 2018-06-12 by Michael Lask

Location (approximate): Port Sanilac, Sanilac, MI

Strat unit: Amherstburg formation

Submitter notes: These little pieces of Petoskey stone were collected decades ago on the rocky shores of Lake Huron. They are exactly as found, naturally polished and aged. The larger fragment is 36 mm across. Hexagonaria was a genus of reef forming tabulate coral. Tabulate corals are extinct. Enormous reefs formed in what was Michigan during the Devonian period.
