Submitter notes: This old Brachiopod was encrusted with several types of creatures living on her & they died with her also. There were boring sponges,'Clionoides' on the growth lines of her valves & Aulocystis tabulate coral on her brachial valve. There are some small bryzoan also but these are not identifiable. This brachiopod is from the Norway Point member, also known as the 'boat launch.' Scott Vergiels assisted in this identification.

Submitter notes: Rostroconchs are unusual mollusk with some controversy over where it fits in the evolution of the Mollusca. The Rostroconchs have their two halves connected at the back and are not seperate halves as are Brachiopods or Pelecypods. They have been treated as primitive branches of evolution in Mollusks but are also seen as their own Taxon within the Mollusks. Their strangeness is what attracts me.

Submitter notes: This is a nice large example of the Devonian Blastoid, Heteroschisma alatum, oral view with fingers for scale. As I was stepping across a ditch, this was directly in front of the toe of my boot, I called my companions to see it before I tried to pick this up as it was large & easily seen. I hoped it was & it did prove to be complete.

Submitter notes: This Cystoid shows a considerable tail portion in addition to the body of this cystoid. The background is finely broken Bryzoan fronds. This is from the Thunder Bay Limestone near Partridge Point, Alpena. The U.S. 10 cent pc. is for scale. The body is 2 cm long with the additional tail just about 3 cm.
