Submitter notes: Preparation of this specimen was conducted by carefully removing pieces from the matrix and immediately gluing them back together. Once the entire specimen was removed a map was made of its original orientation. The specimen was then placed in a quaternary ammonium solution for cleaning. The solution caused the glue points to dissolve. Then the clean pieces were assembled using the map. The final orientation represents the specimen as it occurred in the matrix and not necessarily in its living position, which may or may not have been the same. The specimen is about 11 cm across at its widest point. Portions are encrusted with the bryozoan Hederalla sp.
